Aloha! Thank you for your interest in the Benefits Planning Certificate Training Program. The Benefits Planning Certificate Training Program is sponsored by Department of Human Services Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), and provided by University of Hawaii Center on Disability Studies (CDS).
The purpose of the Benefits Planning Certificate Training is to increase capacity and the availability of Benefits Planner in State of Hawaii. This training program leads to a Certificate of Benefits Practitioner, upon successful completion of the 5-day on-site training, online examination as well as a case file review. The timeline below will provide an illustration of the process. After earning your certificate, you will be required to take part in a six (6) month of apprenticeship with CDS staff.
Please note that participation in the Benefits Planning Certificate Training is a long term commitment. The Benefits Planning Certificate Training program will begin October 2016 and end June 2017.

The following table shows the estimated time requirement to complete each component of the training program:

You can download the application form here. Application is due September 30, 2016. We may contact you for clarification on your application. All applicants will be notified on or around October 7, 2016.
We will contact accepted applicants to notify the training venue, make travel arrangement (for neighbor island applicants), and request for accommodations.
